Exploring Earthworms
What has no eyes, five hearts, and turns trash into soil? Meet the incredible earthworm—nature’s hidden helper!
Duration: one class period (~ 1 hour); Kindergarten programs are 30 minutes.
Students explore earthworms through stories, games, and live observation. They learn about worm anatomy, how worms help break down waste, and ways to care for worms in a bin. Using real worms and hands-on tools, students discover the important role earthworms play in improving soil and supporting nature.
This program pairs well with our optional Recycling Rules program. Both are grant-funded and offered at no cost to your classroom, thanks to support from the Azulita Project and the City of Flagstaff Sustainability Office.
