Adult Workshop: Wild Food in the Modern Diet

  • Willow Bend Environmental Education Center 703 East Sawmill Road Flagstaff, AZ, 86001 United States (map)

Mike Masek leads the first workshop of our Seeds and Skills: Hands-On Community Food Workshops Series on Saturday, January 17th. This workshop provides a detailed overview of the realities of incorporating wild edibles into our daily diet, along with the skills and information necessary for safe, successful, and sustainable foraging for wild foods. Recommended field guides will be shared.

Mike has been studying, practicing, and teaching in the Wild Food and Herb communities for 30+ years. He has done week-long wild food walkabouts and has shared Foraging and Wild Edible info at the university level, with homeschool groups, and with the military special operations community. He has a special interest in the diets of our hunter-gatherer ancestors.

Thanks to Flagstaff Sustainability Grant funding, these workshops will be free to the public. Advance registration is required - click here to register (registration opens 1/9/26).
