Forests of Northern Arizona

Duration: One class period (45 minutes to an hour)
Discover the forests that make northern Arizona unique! Through hands-on investigation of leaves, bark, cones, animal tracks, scat, and other natural materials, students explore how trees provide food and shelter for wildlife, discover the importance of standing dead trees called snags, and learn how the plants, animals, and natural processes of the forest are connected.
This program can be presented in your classroom, as a field experience at Willow Bend Environmental Education Center, or in any nearby outdoor area with trees.
