Teaching Volunteer | Garden Volunteer | Community Event Volunteer | Special Areas Volunteer
Volunteer Job Title: Teaching Volunteer
- Responsibilities: Teaching volunteers provide outdoor education opportunities for local elementary school students by leading field trips at Willow Bend.
- Skills Required: Desire to work with young students; Enthusiasm for the outdoors
- Desired Skills: Experience working with Kindergarten through 6th grade students
- Day/Times Needed: Weekdays between 8am-3pm, spring and fall
- Special Note: Teaching Volunteers must have a current fingerprint clearance card and attend a Volunteer Teacher Training Session prior to the start of the school year. Check back soon for the training schedule.
Volunteer Job Title: Garden Volunteer
- Responsibilities: Garden Volunteers maintain our native gardens by planting, weeding, amending soil, and assisting with projects
- Skills Required: Desire to work outdoors
- Desired Skills: Previous gardening experience; knowledge of local plants
- Day/Times Needed: April through October; Hours are flexible
Volunteer Job Title: Community Event Volunteer
- Responsibilities: Community Event Volunteers assist staff at public events with a variety of activities, which include leading hands-on nature stations, taking pictures, answering general public questions, etc.
- Skills Required: Lots of energy; Ability to work with visitors of all-ages; Outgoing personality
- Day/Times Needed: These events are generally held on weekends, day or evening
Volunteer Job Title: Special Areas Volunteer
Special interest volunteers should be willing to commit a year or more of their volunteer time as these positions will be heavility relied upon and intensive. Fore students, these positions can become internships or practicum opportunities.
Social Media
- Responsibilities: Social Media volunteers will be involved in keeping Willow Bend in the public eye. Responsibilities include updating our social media outlets with our upcoming events, assisting our PR representative, and creating a Willow Bend promo video
- Skills Required: Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets; Familiar with PR work
- Desired Skills: Previous experience assembling promotional videos
- Day/Time Needed: Flexible depending on need; Mostly during business hours (Monday-Friday 9am-4pm)
Fundraising
- Responsibilities: Fundraising volunteers will help provide funding for our educational programs. We are looking for driven, compelling, and committed individuals who share Willow Bend's passion for the environment and education for all
- Skills Required: Fundraising experience; Strong communication skills; Familiarity with the funding options for non-profits
- Desired Skills: Past experience with any of the above
- Day/Time Needed: Flexible depending on need; Mostly during business hours (Monday-Friday 9am-4pm)
Grant Writing
- Responsibilities: Grant Writing volunteers will work alongside our Outreach Assistant and Director to research appropriate grant opportunities and develop grant proposals
- Skills Required: Grant writing experience is a must! Strong writing and communication skills
- Desired Skills: Abstract and creative thinker
- Day/Time Needed: Flexible depending on need; Mostly during business hours (Monday-Friday 9am-4pm)
Other
- Responsibilities: Create your own volunteer position with Willow Bend based on past work experience! For example: a former computer engineer could provide technical assistance; someone familiar with construction could help maintain the building; artistic talents are needed for prop and poster making; if you enjoy pulling weeds, we got 'em!
