2012 Environmental Education Training Program
Dates: Monday, March 12 – Friday, March 16

8:00 am – 5:00 pm daily
Location: Willow Bend Environmental Education Center
Cost: $200 (FUSD teachers attend FREE)
This intensive training program meets the North American Association for Environmental Education guidelines for excellence and can be used as a prep course for environmental educator certification through the Arizona Association for Environmental Education. Science of Wind
Date: Saturday, March 31

Location: Ponderosa High School
Cost: $150 / person (FUSD teachers attend FREE)
This teacher workshop will provide educators of all grade levels and subject areas the necessary foundational understanding of wind energy to then inform, excite and inspire their students about this resource.

Biodiversity Bootcamp: Yellowstone! June 11–23, 2012
Willow Bend’s Biodiversity Bootcamp: Yellowstone! will connect Flagstaff’s unique ecosystem to one of America’s premiere natural areas: Yellowstone National Park. Bootcamp begins in Flagstaff with workshops to create a foundation for a comparison / contrast study. Bootcamp then continues in Yellowstone, based at Old Faithful, with workshops that extend the experience beyond the Colorado Plateau. The drive from Flagstaff to Yellowstone will also be a learning experience with multiple field stops and opportunities to see the changing ecosystems along the way. In addition to two Willow Bend staff and multiple agency representatives, Bootcamp: Yellowstone! will be led by USGS geologist Dr. Greg Vaughan. Topics will include geology, geothermal energy, volcanology, wildlife, botany, ecology, resource management, cultural and natural histories, and more!
