Family Science Events
|
Willow Bend offers many fun activities for
families! All
Family Science Events
are held at Willow Bend and are free of charge, but donations are
gratefully accepted. Programs are appropriate for children
ages 4 and up, and parents will stay with children for all activities.
Space is limited to 20 students, so email Sapna Sopori (sapna@willowbendcenter.org)
to sign up!

Community Events
Willow Bend often celebrates special events for the
entire community to join! These events are open to the public (no need
to sign-up!) and are appropriate for adults and families with
children of all ages.

Earth Day Recycling Tour
Date: Friday, April 18, 2008
Location: 1800 E. Butler Ave.
Time: 3:00 - 4:00PM
In celebration of Earth Day, a
special tour of the Materials Recovery Facility will be provided by
Willow Bend staff. Join us for a
“behind the scenes” tour to learn more
about Flagstaff’s recycling program.
Earth Day Celebration

Arbor Day Celebration
Date: Saturday, April 26, 2008
Location: Fox Glenn Park, AAEE table
Time: 1:00—2:00pm
Willow Bend, the Sierra Club and the Arizona Association for
Environmental Education invite families to learn more about Ponderosa
Pines on a nature walk with Dr. Ted Gomez, Forest Health Specialist
with the U of A Extension. Families will receive a free copy of Dr.
Gomez’ book Beyond the Ponderosa, as well as the
children’s book Ponderosa Pete by author Julie Blake

First Friday Recycling Tour
Date: Every First Friday
Location: Norton Materials Recovery Facility
Time: 3:00-4:00pm
Every First Friday at 3pm, Willow Bend leads a Flagstaff
Recycling Tour at the Norton Materials Recovery Facility (on Butler
and Babbitt). Meet at the Norton facility to learn more about
the behind-the-scenes of recycling in our town!

Bend 30th Anniversary!!!
Date: May 31st
Location: Willow Bend Environmental Education Center at Sawmill Park
Time: 9am-4pm
Join us to celebrate 30 years of teaching environmental education in
Flagstaff!!! All ages are welcome to enjoy workshops and education

Adult Education
Willow Bend often hosts various speakers to help our Flagstaff
community live more sustainably. These lectures and workshops are led
by professionals and the cost and content are directed by them.
Our
next Adult Education Opportunity is:
Do-It-Yourself Solar Panel
Installation Workshop:
This 6-week hands-on series is presented by Prometheus Systems and
will teach you exactly how to install your own solar panels at home.
